4.0 theatre connections.theatre creationsI have written a number of plays, and adapted several others. Below is a list of plays and musicals and their descriptions. Carmina Burana stagedAn English language version of Carmina Burana with lines taken from the Benediktbeuern poems, which were also Carl Orff's source material. The plot follows a young man and woman who fall in love during the Middle Ages, and while the boy is away at school, the girl gets involved in an affair with an older man. Love, lust, betrayal and beer. The story is a show within a show--performed by people in a facist state. CHARACTER WITNESSES: EASTER | character witnesses: ChristmasI took Kostulias's fantastic book and turned it into a multi-voice reader's theatre piece, that interweaves voices and opinions from a variety of people who took part in the Easter story and the Christmas story. These are two separate plays in two acts. The format allows for a great deal of freedom, but the end result is a thought-provoking and profoundly moving evening of Christian theatre. The CovenantA musical retelling of the last week of Christ's life. This production is designed to be performed by a church band and church members in a church setting. The duet between internal thoughts and external words of Christ on the cross is profoundly moving. the dust of hopeThe Book of Job becomes a musical. This show addresses all of the honor, pathos, cynicism, fear and doubt of Job as he deals with incompetent comforters and a clever devil. The music is at times humorous, and at times highly dramatic, with the title song an anthem to pacivism. 444A harrowing recounting of the hostages held for 444 days in Iran from 1979-1981. This includes a cast of 21 portraying 60 characters and covers events from the taking of the embassy to the flight home. This analysis is based on my personal interviews along with research and includes little known escape attempts, historical background, torture, and friendship. The production is huge in scope. HRH: The Hughes LegendMy one-man show about Howard Hughes. This show came before The Aviator and has the actor perform 6 characters in Act One and a dying Howard Hughes in Act Two. From a designer announcing Hughes near death after crashing, to a friend trying to retrieve a coat from one of Hughes' cottages, to a Morman servant silently preparing peaches for Mr. Hughes, there is a lot of pain and humor at the same time. Howard Hughes' codiene-induced retrospective in Act Two is harrowing and revealing.
